Two Auburn Softball players have been invited to participate in two separate selection camps. It was announced on Monday that senior Kasey Cooper had been selected to take part in the Team USA selection camp. Then, on Tuesday, newcomer Alyssa Rivera had been invited to Junior Women’s National Camp. Cooper was a member of Team USA’s roster last season, a team that won their first world championship in six seasons and took silver in the World Cup of Softball. Cooper is the first player from Auburn University to compete for Team USA. Last season, Cooper was named ESPNW player of the year, SEC player of the year, and SEC Scholar-Athlete of the year. Team USA selection camp will take place in Clearwater, Florida from January 1-5. For Rivera, the Freshman from Eagle Lake, Florida, has been invited to try out for the Junior Women’s National Team December 31-January 1. Rivera is one of 10 players currently enrolled in a Division-1 program to be invited to the camp. Last year, the JWNT won gold in Women’s World Championship in Oklahoma City, after finishing 10-0.
