It was announced on Thursday that the home of Auburn University baseball, Plainsman Park, will receive notable upgrades prior to first pitch of the 2017 season.
Highly regarded as one of the best venues in all of college baseball, Plainsman Park is set to receive its biggest renovation 1996.
The scoreboard in left center field will be the most notable enhancement that Plainsman Park will receive, as it will be upgraded to a 24’0” x 62’4” videoboard. With the new video board, comes a brand new sound system.
The other upgrades that Plainsman Park will feature in 2017, will be brand LED lighting, as well as the replacement of all chair back seating.
“Plainsman Park has stood the test of time,” Auburn head coach Butch Thompson said. “It was 2003’s National Ballpark of the Year, has endured and is still one of the best. I’m thankful going into my first full year for the commitment of the university to enhance our timeless ballpark.”
Auburn opens the 2017 baseball season at home on February 16th against George Washington University.
