The Southeastern Conference announced today the conference schedule for the upcoming 2016-17 basketball season.

For Auburn, the Tigers will host Georgia at Auburn Arena to open the season on December 29th. The season opener will be the first time that Auburn has opened its conference schedule prior to January 1st in 28 years. Georgia is part one of three common opponents that Auburn will face this season, which means that there will be a return trip to Athens scheduled for March 1st. Auburn will also have home-and-home matchups with Alabama (January 21 & February 4), Ole Miss (January 7 & February 11), LSU (January 18 & February 21), and Missouri (January 10 & March 4).

In addition to the four home games against common opponents, Auburn will host Tennessee (January 31), Mississippi State (February 7), Florida (February 14), and Arkansas (February 25). Auburn will face a tough road schedule, with trips to Vanderbilt (January 4), Kentucky (January 14), South Carolina (January 24), and Texas A&M (February 18).

The tough conference slate compliments one of the toughest non-conference schedules in recent memory. Auburn opens the season with North Florida on November 11, before hosting Georgia State and Eastern Kentucky for part one of the Cancun Challenge that will be held in Auburn. The Tigers will then travel south of the border to face Texas Tech and Purdue/Utah State in Cancun (November 22 & 23). Other key games this games this year will include a match up inside Madison Square Garden against Boston College (December 12), a game with Oklahoma as part of the Basketball Hall of Fame's Birthday of Basketball (December 21), and a true road contest at UConn (December 23).

Bruce Pearl enters his third season as the Head Coach of Auburn Men’s Basketball. Pearl has posted a 26-40 record since taking over for Tony Barbee following the 2013-14 season.
